  1. Jungle the Bungle membership

When you, as a parent, sign up for a membership with Jungle the Bungle, you need to create a personal account for yourself (the Parent Account) and for your child (the Child Account). For each child you register, we create a separate personal Child Account.

Parent account and Child account

  • First name and surname
  • Email address
  • Password

To create the Child Account, you need to provide the following personal information:

  • Child's first name
  • Age of child
  • Gender
  • Basic language

When you subscribe for a membership, we process your financial data as well. At Jungle the Bungle, the membership subscription is handled through the Apple or Google Play store, secured and online. Please refer to the privacy terms of the Apple Store and the Play Store for more information.

We use financial data only to process payments, which is necessary for the execution of the agreement between Jungle the Bungle and you as a parent. Without this data, we cannot process payments or establish a subscription.

  1. Parent account and Child account

Parent account

In your Parent Account, you can keep track of your child's progress. In addition to the mandatory personal data from Chapter 2, you can optionally provide the following personal data in your Parent Account:

  • Username
  • Address
  • City
  • Phone number

You can always modify the information you provide. If you provided your address when subscribing to the membership, this information is automatically available in your Parent Account.

Children's account

Through the Parent Account, you can create a Child Account for each individual child. The Parent Account has full access to the Child Account. When your child plays Jungle the Bungle on their Child Account, they do not have access to the Parent Account.

Within the Parent Account, you can create a maximum of three Child Accounts. For each Child Account, you can enter the child's first name and birthdate. The birthdate is necessary to determine an entry-level for the child. Additionally, you can specify the native or base language and target language. Are settings are in the base language and also instructions are given in the base language . All games are in the target language, the language your child wants to learn. The use of the aforementioned personal data is necessary for the execution of the agreement between Jungle the Bungle and you as a parent.

Optional information

In addition to the child's first name (or nickname) and birthdate, you or your child can provide the following optional personal information in the Child Account. You can always modify the information you provide.

Gender: We like to know your child's gender to address them appropriately.

Email address: If your child provides his or her email address, we send the new password to that address. We do not use the email address for any other purpose.

We use this personal data to tailor and personalize Jungle the Bungle to your child as much as possible. We process this personal data based on the legitimate interest of making our service as easy, suitable, and useful as possible for you and your child.

Playing Jungle the Bungle

When your child plays with Jungle the Bungle, we keep track of the following:

  • Games played
  • Minutes played by your child
  • Number of questions answered correctly or incorrectly by your child
  • The language level and progress of the child is determined through an algorithm. Multiple correct answers lead to an increase in level, while multiple incorrect answers lead to a decrease.

We also use this data in the Parent Account, allowing you, as a parent, to have an overview of your child's use of Jungle the Bungle. The use of this data is necessary for the execution of the agreement between Jungle the Bungle and you as a parent. Without this information, we cannot provide insight into your child's results.

  1. Offers and newsletters, reporting, and service messages

Offers and newsletters

We also use your personal data to send (commercial) messages with offers or promotions and news about new games, exciting collaborations, tips, and tricks. We aim to tailor the content of the newsletter, the website, and our other communication channels toyour language preferences and gaming interests.

To personalize these messages, we may use your name, gender, and your child's name.

To ensure that the promotions and offers are relevant, we may use usage data , such as the last time your child played Jungle the Bungle and which games your child has played.

You can unsubscribe from these messages when registering for the Parent Account, and, of course, all our commercial messages contain an unsubscribe link. We process this data because we establish a customer relationship with you as a parent. In this situation, we are allowed to send you messages as a customer to inform you as accurately as possible about our services.

Reports

Jungle the Bungle provides reports to give you insight into the use of Jungle the Bungle by your child and your child's results. For this, Jungle the Bungle uses play information, such as which games your child has played and how many words your child has learned. You can also see how long your child has practiced a word category or theme and when your child last played Jungle the Bungle. The information is made available in the app and via email.

We process this information based on our legitimate interests to periodically provide parents with insight into the use of Jungle the Bungle by your child.

Service messages

We also keep you informed about the development of our service. For example, when there is an expansion or an update, Jungle the Bungle will notify you by email. For these service messages and messages confirming a purchase, it is not possible to unsubscribe. The use of your email address for these messages is necessary to inform you about the content of our service (and thus the agreement with you). This includes reports, updates and upgrades, requests for reviews, etc.

Email tracking

In our email messages, we use technologies to measure interactions with the messages (e.g., opening the email or clicking on a link). We do this by using so-called pixels embedded in the messages. Through the pixels, we can read the following data: the name and email address of the recipient, confirmation that the recipient has received and opened the email, whether and which links were clicked upon, the recipient's IP address, and the recipient's browser and operating system. This way, we can optimize and further develop the content of our emails. We use the data in aggregated form and only for general statistical evaluations. The data is not combined with your other data in a profile.

The processing of this personal data is necessary to pursue our legitimate interests, namely to analyse the reach and relevance of our messages.

  1. Advertising

If you haven't objected to this use, Jungle the Bungle shares your email address with Facebook, LinkedIn, and Google to display relevant advertisements from Jungle the Bungle to you. These advertising networks compare the email addresses we provide with existing Facebook, LinkedIn, and Google profiles. If you have an account with Google, LinkedIn, and/or Facebook, you will then see advertisements there for similar products and/or services from Jungle the Bungle. Naturally, we never share more data than described here and never data about your child.

On the website, you can opt-out of this processing through the cookie settings.

Currently, we do not engage in marketing tracking via the app. We only share data with Google. The data is stored in GA4 for 14 months, but this does not include information that can be linked to an individual. You can object to the provision of relevant advertisements in your Parent Account.

  1. Automatically generated information

To ensure the optimal functioning of Jungle the Bungle (for example, to display pages correctly and secure the website and app), we require certain information. Therefore, we automatically collect generated information about your browsing behavior while using Jungle the Bungle. This information includes a part of the IP address (with the last 3 digits anonymized to prevent traceability), the type of browser (the computer program used to view internet pages), the computer system you are using, the pages you visit, and we place cookies.

We use this information, among other things, to tailor our services as closely as possible to your preferences and to resolve technical problems and security issues.

For instance, we use the IP address, account number, and pages/cookies to investigate any unusual situations or to thwart hacking attempts. If we detect a sudden increase in the use of a particular account on multiple configurations, we can take corrective actions.

The browser data and computer system information help us understand how many people are using a particular configuration, allowing us to adjust the platform accordingly. Additionally, this information assists in troubleshooting, as we can precisely identify situations where issues have arisen.

The processing of this information is necessary for the legitimate interests of Jungle the Bungle, specifically the interest in securing the platforms and providing them as user-friendly as possible.

We also use this information to compile statistical data. For more details, refer to Chapter 9 (Research and Analysis). If the automatically generated information is collected using cookies, Chapter 8 (Cookies) also applies.

The research results are always aggregated, meaning the data in the research results cannot be personally traced back to you or your child. We use pseudonymize and, where possible, anonymize data for this purpose.

  1. How Long Do We Retain Your Data?

We retain your personal data for 14 months, as long as necessary for the purposes mentioned above or to comply with legal (retention) obligations. The retention period depends on the nature of the data and the purposes for which Jungle the Bungle processes this data. We have detailed the retention periods per category in an internal retention policy and summarize it below.

We keep your personal data as long as we have an agreement with you.

After termination of the contract, we keep the Parent Account and Child Account for an additional 1 year to allow reactivation of the membership without losing account data. After 1 year, we delete the Parent Account and Child Account, including data about the games played by your child, date, playtime, practice results, and reports.

We keep your name, email address, and your child's age for up to 5 years after the agreement's termination. We retain this data (based on our legitimate interest) to send commercial messages and also to know when to stop doing so, for example, when your child is no longer in elementary school. You can always unsubscribe from our messages or request us to delete your data.

We keep the agreement between you and Jungle the Bungle for a minimum of 5 years after the agreement's termination.

Financial data related to the agreement, such as invoices, proof of payments, payment methods, and account numbers, is retained for a minimum of 7 years to comply with fiscal legislation.

Complaints we receive are kept for up to 3 years after the complaint's receipt.
